David Studwell is a contemporary artist, whose work explores the traditional print-making processes and cultures of the twentieth century. Taking photographic images of some of the century's greatest icons and celebrities - from Al Capone to Marilyn Monroe - Studwell revitalises them with washes of retro colour, for a distinctly Pop-Art feel. 'Kurt Coabin' depicts an image of Cobain - but not as we have seen before. A young, fresh faced Kurt Cobain stands for a Police Department mug shot, which Studwell has washed with tones of inky blue and beige.
